  • Connect with fellow A.A.s who are tackling similar challenges
  • Gather new ideas and bring them back to your home group, district, area or intergroup

The National AA Technology Workshop (NAATW) is an annual gathering of Alcoholics Anonymous members who are passionate about using technology to support AA’s primary purpose. The Workshop provides a space to share experience, explore ideas, connect with like-minded members, and bring practical solutions back to our groups, districts, areas, and service entities.

This year our content will be around the theme of Circuits of Service: How Technology Helps Carry the Message. Focusing on the practical tools, systems, and digital solutions that empowers trusted servants to extend the reach and impact of the A.A. message. We look forward to topic suggestions and presentation submissions for this year’s workshop.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcome! This is a Technology Workshop, so we encourage the use of smartphones, tablets, and laptops during sessions. You’ll use them to participate, connect, and collaborate throughout the weekend.

All sessions will be hybrid (accessible both online and in-person) and recorded (with anonymity safeguards in place). Please help us protect anonymity-yours and others.

Absolutely. In fact, it’s encouraged. Technology is at the heart of this Workshop.

While multitasking can be a challenge, we trust you’ll find the right balance between presence and participation.

Anonymized recordings will be available on our website. We do not show faces or use
last names. Any presentation slides or shared documents will be included when possible.

At the start of each session, we will read AA’s Anonymity Statement.

A list of local restaurant options will be provided closer to the event.

Sunday is a big day for NAATW:

  • The NAATW Chair will deliver the annual report.
  • Members will vote on the 2027 Steering Committee slate.
  • Open positions on the Steering Committee (if any) will be filled by election.
  • We’ll close with a final session to reflect, celebrate, and share feedback.

Dress as you would for an AA meeting. You’ll see everything from shorts and T-shirts to business casual. Comfort is key.

TIAA stands for Technology in AA, an online forum launched after the second NAATW Workshop by inspired attendees. While TIAA and NAATW are separate entities, they are closely related and share overlapping membership.

You are! Anyone who attends the annual members meeting on Sunday is considered a voting member of NAATW.

  • Attend the Sunday members meeting;
  • Stand for an open Steering Committee position;
  • Talk to any current Steering Committee member during the Workshop. We’re always looking for willing hands and bright ideas!

We aim to rotate locations: central U.S. every other year, each coast every four years—but ultimately, we go where members are willing to host. Let us know your interest by speaking with a Steering Committee member or emailing chair@naatw.org.
